Gautam Bodiwala International Federation for Emergency Medicine, UK
Gautam Bodiwala is acknowledged as one of the pioneers and experts in the field of Emergency Medicine, nationally and internationally. His major contribution in starting international conferences in Emergency Medicine and founding International Federation for Emergency Medicine (IFEM) is well recognized. He is the first elected World President of IFEM.  

Dr Bodiwala was educated in Ahmedabad, India and qualified as a surgeon before coming to England in 1970. He was appointed as Consultant and Head of the Emergency Department in Leicester, England in 1977 and remained in that position for 26 years.   

His contribution has given him many local, national and international accolades. He was awarded Honorary Doctorates by University of Leicester (for his academic contribution) and De Montfort University, Leicester (for his contribution to international Emergency Health care), CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) by her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II (the first one to receive for Emergency Medicine, for his national contribution to EM). The Emergency Department in Leicester is named after him as ‘Gautam Bodiwala Emergency Department’, the only in the UK. The International Federation for Emergency Medicine, which he founded, has created its highest eponymous award ‘Gautam Bodiwala Lifetime Achievement Award’ to mark ‘Dr Bodiwala’s contribution in International Emergency Medicine and founding of the International Federation’   

He has received some nine Fellowships of various colleges and Hon membership of EM organizations, has published more than 70 papers, one book and given many key note speeches round the world including inaugural eponymous George Podgorny Lecture at ICEM and eponymous Herman Delooz Lecture at EuSEM   

Currently he is Pro Chancellor of the De Montfort University, Leicester and sits on Court of the University of Leicester.
