David C. Cone, MD is a professor of emergency medicine, chief of the Section of EMS, and EMS fellowship director at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, USA. He served on the board of directors of the National Association of EMS Physicians from 1996 until 2010, including serving as president in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Cone served as editor-in-chief of Academic Emergency Medicine, the journal of the Society for Academic Emergency Medicine, from 2009 to 2015, and previously served for ten years as deputy editor of Prehospital Emergency Care. He is also the editor-in-chief of the fourth and fifth editions of NAEMSP's textbook, Emergency Medical Services: Clinical Practice and Systems Oversight. An active EMS field provider since 1984, he is a volunteer firefighter, has served as Medical Team Manager of two urban search and rescue teams, and is the chief of the only EMS physician response team in Connecticut. He has served as an advisory member of the Asian Association for EMS since 2009, and sits on the advisory board of the Pan-Asian Resuscitation Outcomes Study (PAROS).
