Inter-professional Education (IPE) in Emergency Medicine

Providing high-quality patient care requires efficiency and effectiveness. That depends on students’ learning, but mainly on the interprofessional collaboration. Interprofessional education (IPE) contributes to developing healthcare providers with the skills and knowledge needed to work in collaborative teamwork.
Explore and present the effectiveness of IPE interventions, with the aim to improve collaboration and the quality of patient care and the teaching-learning process.
PubMed, MEDLINE, OVID I did research using keywords and MeSH terms [''interprofessional education'' AND ''emergency medicine'' AND ''effectiveness'', OR ''collaborative practice'', OR ''education''], published between years 2002 to 2019.
Positive impact and of outcomes in improving the quality of health care and the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of learners, by teaching, developing, and stimulating Interprofessional education in healthcare.
Studies indicate statistically significant effectiveness, on teaching-learning and healthcare process outcomes, by the intervention of the IPE programs. In addition, IPE produces positive outcomes in emergency department teams as it improves professional practices, the collaborative team behavior, and reduction of clinical error rates.
To improve IPE, it is necessary, to perform cohesive efforts by the administration and faculty, with the commitment from the educators with a formal preparation in education.
