Enhancing 5th Chain of Survival, Focusing on TTM

Unconscious patients after successful resuscitation after cardiac arrest (CA) are at high risk for death. Two landmark trials which were published on NEJM at 2002 showed a significant improvement in survival and neurologic outcome with therapeutic hypothermia. Therapeutic hypothermia (TH), also known as targeted temperature management (TTM) is considered as standard treatment after CA and now recommended in international resuscitation guidelines. However, optimal temperature target and duration are still unclear. I will discuss the current knowledge of TTM based on the evidence so far.
