Despite numerous studies on prehospital airway management, results are difficult to compare due to heterogeneous data. Advanced airway management in prehospital services is performed frequently, with variation in intubation success rates. However, prehospital conditions showed significantly higher first-attempt failure rates. Preventing failed intubations were handled successfully with a rescue device or surgical airway. Intubate ? Ventilate ? What are the criteria for the management of difficult airways in out of hospital situations ? When do we need a back up plan ? What tools and devices are necessary for EMT ?
